Google has made Search Console platform properties available to everyone worldwide, three weeks after a staged rollout began. This means any business can now link Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube accounts to Search Console and see which Google queries drive people to their posts across Search, Discover, and Google News.

What changed and why it matters

Introduced on July 7, platform properties give you query-level reporting for content published outside your own website. Previously, you only knew how your social posts performed inside each platform. Now you know what someone searched on Google before clicking through to your post. That's a missing link between social and search.

Six ways to use the data

Google's guide highlights six practical applications:

  • Query groups in the Insights report show your top, trending up, and trending down search themes. Use these for your next video topic, caption, or hashtag.
  • 24-hour filter catches sudden search traffic spikes to recent posts while you can still cross-promote them.
  • Cross-platform exports let you compare YouTube, Instagram, X, and TikTok side by side in one spreadsheet.
  • Find top-performing older content by looking for videos regaining search traction. Pin to a feed or create a sequel.
  • Annotations log when you rewrote a title or caption, then compare performance before and after.
  • Comparison mode displays different data sets side by side—long-form vs. shorts, posts vs. reels.

What This Means for Your Business

If you post content on Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube, this data is free and immediately useful. You can now see which search queries send traffic to your social posts, not just your website. That helps you create content that matches what people are actually searching for. If you don't use these platforms, this doesn't affect you.

Your Move:

Link your top social account to Search Console today, check the query groups report, and use the top trending search theme as your next post topic.
